Dear RSU 26 School Community,
With the rapidly changing circumstances of COVID-19 and the potential growing impact in our area, we will be moving our inservice day scheduled for Friday March 20th to this Monday, March 16th. We feel this shift is prudent in order for staff to have time to develop plans for remote learning in the event there is a need for an extended closure. We will spend Monday engaged in careful thought and planning for how we can best meet the educational needs and instructional programming for all students in a remote framework. At this time, we do plan to resume school on Tuesday and will have school on Friday with the shift of the inservice day.
Shifting our inservice day to Monday allows us more time to assess and be prepared for any next steps we might need to take in response to this situation. It is important that students take home instructional resources today, as this situation is changing so rapidly in our nation and state; we cannot begin to predict timelines or steps beyond our plan for Monday. We will be in touch again by Monday to follow up with any new information learned by then.
I would like to ask everyone to try to remain calm and not let anxiety overtake sound decision making. I am going to make decisions I feel are in the best interest of our school community, as you should make decisions that you feel are in the best interest of yourself and your family. I will share information as I have updates.
Regards,
Meredith Higgins
RSU 26 Superintendent
