RSU 26 is seeking a contracted service accompanist to provide musical accompaniment (piano/keyboard) for 4 middle & high school choir classes and other special musical events at Orono Middle and High Schools. Under the general supervision of the Choral Director, this individual will independently perform duties that require advanced sight-reading, performance, and technical skills. Occasional travel with choral groups which entails going off campus and working after school hours is required for the position.
Duties: 1. Provide accompaniment - ability to sight-read accompaniments and musical scores in rehearsals, 2. Accompany concerts and special events; and 3. Participate and proficiently play open-score & full accompaniment within the rehearsal setting.
Requirements / Qualifications: Demonstrated skill as a musician/pianist; be able to perform each job duties satisfactorily; hold CHRC approval; and interact with students positively. Knowledge & experience working with middle & high school age students is preferred.
Time commitment is alternating days depending on school schedule each week for approx 1.5 - 3.25 hrs/day (8 - 9:15 am and 11:00 am - 2:10 pm respectively) for the remainder of the 24-25 school year, in addition to occasional special events/concerts after hours. Hourly rate $30-$40/hr dependent on experience.
