Director of Learning (PreK–12)

RSU 26 is seeking an innovative, student-centered educational leader to serve as our Director of Learning. Serving approximately 820 students across three schools in the university town of Orono, we are looking for a collaborative leader who is passionate about academic achievement, equity, and continuous improvement, and who is committed to supporting educators in delivering high-quality instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership: Oversee the development, coordination, and assessment of our PreK-12 curriculum and Chapter 104 programming
  • Professional Growth: Facilitate high-impact professional development and oversee staff mentoring and certification
  • Strategic Operations: Manage federal grants, technology integration, and collection/analysis of data to drive continuous improvement
  • Fiscal Stewardship: Assist in budget planning to ensure resources directly support student success
  • Vision Execution: Drive the district’s strategic plan forward to optimize opportunities for all students and staff

Qualifications

  • Certification: Must hold (or be eligible for) Maine Curriculum Coordinator (078) certificationClearance: Current CHRC approval required

Full-time High School Science Teacher 

Orono High School is seeking a full-time dynamic and student-centered educator to join our science faculty to work with students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate recognizes the rapid pace at which our world is evolving, is passionate about the sciences, and has an eagerness to design and offer learning experiences that support students’ pursuit of empowerment through deep knowledge, skills mastery, and connection to the world and community in which they live.  

The course assignment for this position will include primarily introductory Biology courses, with the possibility of additional science electives (such as Science Inquiry) and/or computer science electives (such as Robotics or Data Literacy). 

Maine educator certification in a science is preferred, but other certified/certifiable candidates with aptitude for subject matter and willingness to pursue professional certification will also be considered.

Substitutes- All Grade Levels

 Orono is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers to work with students at all levels.  The candidates should have completed 2 years of college and enjoy working with children and teens.  Flexibility is a must.  We have lots of opportunities for the right candidates.  Must have up to date CHRC.
