RSU 26 in Orono anticipates the need to hire a full-time Alternative Education Teacher to meet the needs of high school students in grades 9-12 to begin as soon as possible. This position involves supporting students’ social and emotional, behavioral, and academic development, while reinforcing skills and strategies in communication, social skills, conflict resolution, and time management. This individual will need to be able to provide academic instruction, build community connections, collaborate with colleagues, outreach to families, and find creative solutions in a supportive setting. Some elements of our Alternative Education Program include: career exploration, book groups, group counseling, individualized student Personal Learning Plans, post-secondary planning, and opportunities to take college courses.
